IHI Terrasun Solutions Debuts Remote Monitoring and Diagnostics Center at IHI Power Services with a customer tour in September

Terrasun showcased its Remote Monitoring and Diagnostic Center (RMDC) for its large-scale projects with IHI Power Services Corporation (IPSC), a fellow subsidiary of IHI Corporation, the $10-billion-dollar Japanese infrastructure and energy services conglomerate. The team held a tour for asset owners and developers at the IPSC Remote Operations Center (ROC) in Aliso Viejo, California, on the first day of the RE+ conference in September.

The RMDC, which is now located inside the ROC operated by IPSC, hosts staff to monitor the battery health, system connectivity, and charge/discharge actions of the storage and solar plus storage power plants around North America.

“We’re very excited for this large expansion in our service offering with the IPSC team,” said Jamal Burki, president of IHI Terrasun Solutions. “Providing careful monitoring and technical expertise for battery energy storage systems is key to providing the highest quality system reliability long term. The RMDC assures the critical work needed to keep energy storage systems running smoothly is a priority. That is Terrasun’s commitment to customers – ensuring state-of-the-art service and reliability for energy storage projects.”

The collaboration marks an expansion in Terrasun’s monitoring services and the portfolio of IPSC projects, which already operates and monitors several large battery energy storage sites. Terrasun has been developing and integrating battery storage systems for more than seven years with over 60 projects contracted, in construction or in operation. IPSC also provides operation and maintenance services for over 40 conventional and renewable power plants totaling over 14,000 MWs with a team of almost 600 employees.

“IPSC has a proven track record of providing the highest level of safety, environmental compliance, reliability and production for the power plants under our management and we’re excited to join with Terrasun to bring even more battery storage projects into our portfolio,” said John R. Keller, President and CEO of IPSC. “We have a dedicated team of engineers and plant O&M experts that is passionate about keeping our national energy system running smoothly and ensuring every generated or stored kilowatt hour is available for the end customer.”

Monitoring of BESS systems is a must for project developers with Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) or merchant powerplants who are looking for high reliability and production guaranteed through long-term services agreements for their storage or solar plus storage systems and the IHI team delivers on those commitments.
